Hargun Gill

I build software for things that move in the real world, like freight, drones, and the packets that just carried this page to you.

Projects

Things I've shipped, from freight software to the servers running this site.

You're on it right now

Home Lab

A server rack and Kubernetes cluster I built at home

A server rack in my home running a k3s Kubernetes cluster, with a network switch, dedicated nodes, and battery backup. A Cloudflare Tunnel publishes it to the internet without opening a single port on my router. It hosts this site and whatever I'm building next.

Substrate

The operating system for food and beverage brands

Managed freight plus a live dashboard that watches suppliers, inventory, and shipments end to end, and flags problems before they turn into missed deliveries. I'm the sole engineer, building it from the database schema to the UI.

  • Full stack
  • Data modeling
  • Integrations
  • Exception detection

FreTraq

Pricing and negotiation for freight brokers

A live platform that turns hours of manual broker work into seconds. It prices freight lanes with AI, drafts negotiation emails automatically, and tracks margins in real time. Brokers, carriers, and yards each get their own view.

  • Supabase
  • LLM agents

Fathom

Ask questions, get answers from thousands of documents

An AI system that finds the exact passages behind every answer, so responses stay grounded in the source. I built a testing loop to tune how documents are split and searched, which cut down on false answers compared with a basic setup.

Work

  1. 2025 to now

    Founding engineer at Substrate

Sole engineer shipping the product from schema to UI, and owning every technical decision.

  2. 2025 to now

    Undergraduate researcher at DroneSLab

Perception and autonomy experiments for drones operating in the real world, not just simulation.

  3. 2023 to 2025

    Founder of Sunset Tech

Started and ran an IT repair and setup business in high school, from intake to invoice. CompTIA A+ certified.

  4. 2022 to 2023

Logistics operations and sales at FruGill

Kept million dollar shipment operations on time, then shortened the sales cycle with new outreach workflows.

Let's build something.

Open to internships, research, and hard problems in logistics, AI, and infrastructure.
